In our study, we found that older adults newly diagnosed with heart failure where the heart pumps less blood than normal may benefit greatly from sticking to their prescribed combination of medications. We examined how consistently taking these recommended drugs, such as beta blockers, blood pressure medications, and diuretics, affected hospital visits and survival in this age group. Our findings showed that sustained adherence led to fewer hospitalizations and a lower risk of death. These results highlight the importance of supporting older patients in maintaining their medication routines, as the life-saving benefits of these treatments extend well into later life.
